Jesus Youth: Global Activities & Outreaches
Our Journey & History
The Jesus Youth movement began in the mid-1970s in Kerala, India, as Catholic youth encountered Jesus through the Charismatic Renewal. The name 'Jesus Youth' was adopted after a large conference in 1985.
This vibrant spirituality and lifestyle spread as young people moved to universities, workplaces, and cities, forming prayer groups and cells. Internationally, members carried this way of life, establishing Jesus Youth groups across diverse cultures in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, the US, Australia, and Africa.
Governance
The Jesus Youth movement is organized geographically with councils coordinating activities at International, National, Regional, and Zonal levels, ensuring cohesive direction and grassroots engagement.
